From our behaviourist:

I’m Heleen and I have been working in animal care and behaviour for over 10 years. I have a passionate history in dog rescue and rehabilitation, and have a soft spot in my heart for old and “broken” dogs. 

I started out my career in Scotland at my local safari park working with a range of different species, before doing some globe-hopping and finally settling in the UAE. 

I hold a BSc in Animal Biology, a Level 3 Diploma in Zoological Animal Management,  a Level 3 Diploma in Canine Behaviour, as well as my ongoing studies through the Institue of Modern Dog Trainers and Animal Trianing Fundamentals.

Over the years, I have grown exponentially in the behaviour science industry, and I am recognised internationally within the zoological community for my exotic animal training, specialising in penguins.

I always ensure to stay up to date with the latest scientific knowledge and training methods, and due to the strict nature of zoo work, have only ever used 100% choice-based training methods.

I do not believe the use of dominance, pain or fear are ever necessary to achieve our goals.
